The fresh meat section varies week to week & season to season with some ever presents.
Our award winning Sausage varieties are always on display along with our home cure Bacon
The display cabinets were installed with the help of a grant from the Southern Oxfordshire Leader Fund.
The Butchers shop in the village centre has been on The Pound since the mid 1960’s after moving from The Forty across the road where it had been since the 19th century.
Recent years have seen demand increase for locally sourced food with fewer food miles.
With the help of local farmers & suppliers we have been able to meet this demand with some top quality produce from the surrounding area coupled with the highest animal welfare.
After several failed attempts at gaining recognition for our best selling “Cholsey Sausage “, an original village recipe, some slight changes to production method resulted in a Gold Award at the Berks & Oxon judging at the Swan, Pangbourne
We were very pleased to score 98 out of a possible 100 points available in the category.
We also achieved Gold for our Old English Sausage, & Silver for our Pork & Leek & South African Boerewors
The Gold winners are made every week along with other different varieties.
